Day Three Finals: Saturday, April 10
Hali Flickinger of Sun Devil Swimming scratched out of the 200 fly final on Saturday morning in Mission Viejo. In the preliminary heats on Friday night, Flickinger blasted a 2:06.68 for the #2 time in the world so far this season. Later in the session she swam a 4:11.20 in the 400 free and qualified 7th for the final. Flickinger will swim only the 400 free final this morning.
Alto Swim Club’s Katie Drabot (2:09.24) will be the top seed in Flickinger’s absence. Moving into lane 8 of the A final of the 200 fly will be Jade Foelske. Her 2:14.08 in prelims was the 9th-fastest time.
In the men’s 200 fly, three B-final qualifiers scratched the consolation: Etay Gurevich (2:01.34 in prelims), Dillon Hillis (2:02.91), and Alex Kunert (2:04.37). Taking their places will be Will Macmillan (2:04.78), Daniel Gloude (2:04.80), and Noah Brune (2:05.66).
Eric Friese dropped the 50 free final after going 22.92 in prelims to qualify 16th. Oleksii Khnykin (22.99) will take his place in lane 8 of the B final.
In the men’s 100 back, both Dean Farris (14th with 56.46) and Isaac Gwin (15th with 56.52) scratched the B final. Farris also qualified for the 50 free consolation final and will swim that instead. Taking their places in the backstroke will be Keaton Jones and Jake Marcum, who tied for 17th with 56.55.
Kushagra Rawat, who placed 9th in heats of the 400 free with 3:57.24, scratched the final. That moved Parker Reynolds (4:03.18) up to the B final where he will swim in lane 8 this morning.

Last time she lost to a 4/8 free type of swimmer in Kapas so I think she is working on her endurance, maybe that’s why she picked the 400 free this morning and the 400 IM yesterday morning.
Given her tendency to choke in finals I think it would be hard to make a more terrible decision
Agree with you! I don’t think she scratched cause she was so happy with her prelim swim! Probably about how many times she has gone the same time!
Good grief.
Do you honestly think she has a chance in the 400 free?? Come on thats silly
The good grief was in response to your choke comment. It was uncalled for. Athletes read these comments, and that was a hurtful thing to say.
Did you get bullied by her in high school or something? Grow up
She prob figures she already crushes AM swims in 2Fly, so just wanted to work on her PM swims
She also tends to swim her fastest in prelims so those extra swims would help with pacing things out
Idk why she’d drop 200 fly when that’s her main event she has a chance to medal or even win gold at the Olympics.
I agree, but maybe she was happy enough with the swim that she wanted to focus on other things. I’m sure sure sure swimmers at this meet are using prelims as a timed finals and then saying whatever for finals.
Yeah but the whole purpose for morning finals is to prepare for racing early in Tokyo
But morning finals is not going to be “whatever” in Tokyo. It is a curious decision.
She’s hiding her cards. Smart move. Trials is a pressure cooker.
