13 Year Old Kate Harrison Splits 27.3 50 Fly at Australian Age Day 3

The 3rd day of the Australian Age Championships featured another finals session filled with close races and impressive swims. Following her 1:00.9 win in the girls 13 100 fly, Kate Harrison posted a blistering 27.30 split in the 13-14 girls 4×50 medley relay. 14 year old Joseph Hanson split a 25.42 on the fly leg of the boys 13-14 4×50 medley relay. Hanson won the boys 14 100 fly earlier in the meet with a 57.21.

16 year old Michaela Ryan lead off with a 55.19 in the girls 16 4×100 free relay, shaving off more time from her best time 55.46, which she swam earlier in the meet to win the girls 16 100 free. Connor Brackin won the boys 15 100 breast by a second, posting a 1:04.99. Brackin had the fastest splits in the field, going out in 30.50 and coming home in 34.49.

Brittany Castelluzzo and Laura Taylor battled in the girls 17-18 200 free, finishing in 1:59.39 and 1:59.56 respectively. That were out in a virtual tie, with Castelluzzo hitting the 100 mark at 58.62, and Taylor at 58.65. Taylor then outsplit Castelluzzo 30.55 to 30.90 on the 3rd 50, taking the lead, but Castelluzzo dipped back under 30 in the final 50 (29.87), regaining the lead over Taylor (30.36). 17 year old Elijah Winnington won the boys 17-18 200 free with a 1:47.58, winning by over 2 seconds, it finishing off his personal best of 1:46.81.

Lani Pallister ran away with the girls 15 400 free, posting a 4:11.48 to win by 3 seconds. She was out pretty fast, hitting the 200 mark at 2:03.55 (59.91/1:03.64), and coming home in 2:07.93 (1:04.48/1:03.45). She was just off her personal best of 4:11.30. Thomas Neill won the boys 15 400 free with a 3:55.53, posting a new best time by almost 4 seconds. He almost kept all 4 of his 100s under 1:00, putting up splits of 1:00.11 and 1:00.48 in the middle 2 100s.

Jenna Forrester took the girls 14 100 free with a 56.47, dropping from her best time set in prelims of 57.83. Going into the meet, her best time was 58.22. She split her 50s within a second of each other, going out in 27.75 and coming home in 28.72. Joseph Hanson won the boys 14 100 free, posting a quick 52.49 to win by a second. His best time going into the meet was 53.18.

Michael Pickett took the boys 15 50 free with a 23.18, finishing just off his personal best of 23.14.

Wow Thomas Neill keeping under 1:09 with 1:00 that’s some far splitting right there ?

Whatever , it was a stellar time for a 15 year old ( also Thomas Hauck just behind ) . Might be some life in tge mid frees in future.
