14-Year-Old Atakan Malgil Hits New Turkish Age Record In 400 IM

Atakan Malgil of Turkey already made history earlier this year by clocking a new National Age Group Record in the men’s 400m IM with a time of 4:42.47 at just 13, but the teen is back at it again.
Competing for his nation recently, the now-14-year-old clocked a new Turkish National Age Record for the 400m IM in a lifetime best of 4:38.21. Splitting 1:03.92/1:13.48/1:20.98/59.83, Malgil’s time would rank within the top 100 performances ever in the men’s 13-14 age group within the United States.
Malgil’s other performances included a 55.89 100m free a 1:59.64 200m free and 2:12.79 200m IM.
Malgil’s new Age Record marks the first time he has been under the 4:40 mark in the 400 IM.
The teenage Turk is coached by Volkan Burak Tuncil at Ted Mersin College Sport Club,
