The women’s 200 IM was another momentous event for the European team. Katinka Hosszu added her fourth US Open record on the weekend after breaking three US Open records during her events yesterday.
In the final individual event of the day, Katinka Hosszu ran away from the field to win the women’s 200 IM with a final time of 2:03.66. That time lowered Caitlin Leverenz’s record 200 IM time from 2011 of 2:04.91. At that point in the meet, it was too late for her points to make a difference in the outcome of the meet, but she led her teammate, Siobhan-Marie O’Connor, to second place, giving the European All-Stars and 8 point swing in the points.
Yesterday, Hosszu lowered the US Open Record in the 400 IM, 200 backstroke, and the 100 backstroke while leading off the 400 medley relay.
Take a look at her splits below:
- 27.52
- 30.49
- 36.40
