FINA announced today the consequences for a Thai swimmer who tested positive for doping in May of 2015.
Nuttapong Ketin, a 23-year-old breaststroker and IMer, tested positive for Clenbuterol on May 3rd of last year. The Thai Swimming Association has slapped a four year ineligibility sanction on him, which started last May, and will go until May of 2019.
Ketin swam at the 2012 London Olympics for Thailand, where he finished 30th in the 200 breast and 34th in the 200 IM. He was also Thailand’s flag-bearer for those Olympics as well as the 2015 SEA Games, though he was forced out of competition at those SEA Games after his doping offense in May.
Other notable swimmers in the last 10 years to have tested positive for Clenbuterol have been American breaststroker Jessica Hardy in 2008 and Chinese sprint freestyler Ning Zetao in 2011.
