Nation’s Capital Swim Club ended NCSA Junior Nationals with one final National Age Group record: the 400 medley relay for the 15-18 boys division.
The team of John Shebat, Carsten Vissering, Andrew Seliskar and James Jones went 3:12.58 to break the old mark of 3:13.70 set by SwimMAC last year.
The team really gained momentum through the middle of the relay. Vissering tore through the breaststroke in 52.87 before giving way to Seliskar, who went 46.38 on butterfly. Combine that with Shebat’s 49.22 leadoff backstroke leg and Jones’ 44.11 anchor split, and this was a suffocating age group relay.
Even more scary is that this crew is all on the younger end of the 15-18 age bracket. Seliskar and Shebat are 17, while Vissering and Jones are just 16. That group, should they all stay together long enough, should have a shot to take down SwimMAC’s 17-18 record as well when Vissering and Jones age up.
Congratulations boys! What a special relay and a special memory you have created for yourselves!
