MEN’S 50 FREE
- Bowen Becker, Minnesota, 19.67
- Jacob Molacek, Greater Omaha Aquatics, 19.69
- Sam Lorentz, Indiana, 19.70
Minnesota’s Bowen Becker broke the Hoosier streak in the men’s events, winning the 50 free in 19.67. Just 3 hundredths separated the top 3 places, with Jacob Molacek taking 2nd in 19.69. Indiana’s Sam Lorentz barely missed out on keeping the Hoosiers’ streak alive, taking 3rd in 19.70.
15-year-old Jack Dolan from Rockwood Swim Club broke 20 seconds for the first time tonight. Before today, his best time was a 20.53. In tonight’s race, he blew that away with a 19.86 to finish 5th. That makes him the 4th fastest 15-16 swimmer of all time, and he sits just .04 behind Caeleb Dressel in those rankings.
After taking the top seed in prelims, Tom Shields decided to mix it up by swimming butterfly in the final tonight. Shields narrowly missed breaking 20 seconds to finish 6th in 20.10.
He’s pretty big. Nice swim

With a decent start, Shields would have been under.
Really impressed by Jack Dolan: great aquatic skills (his underwaters are really remarkable for a 15 year-old), but also a nice technique both in the free and the backstroke.
Moreover a strong attitude (he seemed unsatisfied at the finish of 200 free northeless a 2 seconds PB).
And if we consider that he was also an hockey player until two years ago, USA could have found his…Kyle Chalmers (who chose swimming after have been uncertain between swimming and australian football)
Ok 19.86 at 15, calm down. Anyone know what his long course is like?
You can search his times on USA Swimming.. Trials in the 100BK, Summer Nats in the 2FR, US Open in the 2BK… His 19.86 at 15 is the 4th fastest all time in the age group, people have a right to be a little excited about it.
I meant calm down as in that’s way too fast for someone as slow as me to imagine
Person, 23.39 in the 50 free/51.14 in the 100 free/1.51.65 in the 200 free
All times made last August
Wow!This kid is going to places…
Congrats Mary & Jack!
I can remember when 19.86 scored points at D1 NCAAs.
Simply incredible to see this generation of teens doing such fabulous things.
