16 Squads to Compete at World Junior Women’s WP Championships in Portugal

From September 9-15, sixteen teams representing the five continents will be taking part in the FINA World Junior Women’s Water Polo Championships 2019 in Funchal, the capital city of Portugal’s island Madeira.

For a six-day tournament, the modern Complexo de Piscinas Olimpicas do Funchal will welcome teams from Australia, Brazil, Canada, China, Greece, Hungary, Italy, Japan, Kazakhstan, the Netherlands, New Zealand, Portugal, Russia, Spain, South Africa and the USA.

The four groups are composed as follows.
GROUP A: HUN, USA, AUS, JPN
GROUP B: BRA, NED, KAZ, ESP
GROUP C: RSA, POR, ITA, RUS
GROUP D: GRE, CAN, NZL, CHN

The schedule unfolds as follows:

Daily detailed match reports will be available on FINA website as of Monday September 9.

The games will be LIVE streamed on FINAtv.

The Russian junior team won the previous edition of the World Women’s Junior Water Polo Championships in Volos (GRE) in 2017, while the host nation Greece took silver and the Netherlands claimed bronze.
