I can’t imagine being 15 years old, making an Olympic team, making a final in my event, finishing fourth place in the entire planet, and feel like I have to “bounce back” from that. Some people are really just built different.

I honestly think she may be better in the 1500 than the 8. At the trials, Grimes nearly made the team in the 1500 (3rd at 15:52.12). Her 800 was 8:20.36 and went to 8:17.05 at the olympics. My point is, if she would have somehow made the team in the 1500 and was more like 15:51.02, I think she would have been able to produce a 15:40-42ish time. She just didn’t get the chance. She will be here years to come, mark my words

She is and will be a great distance swimmer but I don’t think we’ll see Ledecky’s record broken for a while

Coleman, Glad I’m not the only one scared of open water swimming! lol. I’m doing masters swimming now, and haven’t joined an open water race!

Hate to be that guy, but can someone write out the sets? I don’t have 50 minutes to listen to a podcast today – but everyone else should!

Thanks Coleman for another great podcast. It was nice hearing Grimes talk about her experiences in Tokyo, training, and also to hear the wisdom she has at such a young age. Awesome interview!

Wow what a great interview! The fact she didn’t get a phone until she qualified for the Olympics is super impressive. And her philosophy on social media is so refreshing to hear. What a stud!!
