$2.218 Million The Final Tally at the 2013 FINA World Cup Series

The 2013 FINA World Cup Series came to a conclusion on Thursday in Tokyo, Japan, and with that another huge swathe of prizes was awarded.

First, the top 6 from just the three Southeast Asia-based meets in the 3rd leg (Singapore, Japan, and China) received decent prizes for a week’s worth of work.

1. Chad le Clos – $50,000
2. Vlad Morozov – $35,000
3. Thomas Fraser-Holmes – $30,000
4. Robert Hurley – $20,000
5. Daniel Gyurta – $10,000
6. Eugene Godsoe – $8,000

1. Katinka Hosszu – $50,000
2. Alicia Coutts – $35,000
3. Alia Atkinson – $30,000
4. Sarah Sjostrom – $20,000
5. Mireia Belmonte – $10,000
6. Yulia Efimova – $8,000

While much has changed in this year’s prize money payout structure, what hasn’t changed is the huge payouts at the end of the meet to the overall series winners. This structure really rewards swimmers like Hosszu, Morozov, Atkinson and Le Clos who have stayed with the series for the entire 8-meet journey.

1. Chad le Clos – $100,000
2. Vlad Morozov – $50,000
3. Bobby Hurley – $30,000

1. Katinka Hosszu – $100,000
2. Alia Atkinson – $50,000
3. Mireia Belmonte – $30,000

And finally, with over $2.218 million to be awarded, those two overall winners walked away with significant checks, especially considering that this is only for a quarter of their seasons. Hosszu earned $365,000 across the 8 meets, while Le Clos took home $305,500.
