2014 DIII National Championships: Ups/Downs Day 1

NCAA D-III National Championships

Note: Ups refer to swimmers in the A final, who can finish no lower than 8th barring a DQ, and Downs refer to swimmers in the B final, who can finish no higher than 9th and no lower than 16th (again, barring a DQ on the low end).

Several teams started put multiple swimmers into finals on day 1. On the men’s side, Denison, Kenyon, and Keene St. all looked good this morning, qualifying in every individual event in addition to the relay. On the women’s side, Denison, Emory, and Kenyon also qualified swimmers into every event in addition to the relay.

Agreed….Kenyon had a large number of non-scoring swimmers and it looked as if Denison would have been in control after Day 1 but that 200 MR relay falling into the second heat really helps keep the meet close. Denison should finish the day with the lead, though.

Man, after all that work on getting 4 in the IM final–denison handed kenyon back a bunch of points by not making the A final on the relay. Strategically that was a big mistake– they would.be in if they swam rosenberg.
