District 4

2014-15 FHSAA State Swimming & Diving Series – District 4 – Full Results

Women

  1. Oviedo – 436.5
  2. Lake Brantley (Alamonte Springs) – 384

Lake Brantley’s freshman standout, Madison Murtagh, helped pull her team into second place with two individual victories and a relay victory. Murtagh won the 200 freestyle with her time of 1:54.74 and the 500 freestyle in 5:06.90. She also anchored the winner 200 freestyle relay with a 25.85.

Winners for Oviedo included Madison Bryan (1-meter Diving) and the women’s 400 freestyle relay team. Depth was a major factor for Oviedo earning their District championship title.

Men

  1. Seminole (Sanford) – 466
  2. Oviedo – 347
  3. Lake Mary – 328.5
  4. Lyman (Longwood) – 205.5
  5. Hagerty (Oviedo) – 184

Maverick Layne led the way for Seminole, winning the 50 free with a time of 21.74 and the 100 freestyle with a time of 48.09. He  also led off the winning 200 freestyle relay. Other winners for Seminole include the 200 medley relay team, Michael Votino (1-Meter Diving), and the 200 freestyle relay team.

Nicholas de la Osa from Lake Brantley doubled up on the day, winning the 200 freestyle with a time of 1:42.06 and the 500 freestyle with a time of 4:50.46.

District 5

Women

  1. Plant (Tampa) – 545
  2. Newsome (Lithia) – 415
  3. George Steinbrenner (Lutz) – 248
  4. Bloomingdale (Valrico) – 209
  5. Wharton (Tampa) – 169

Plant started off the meet with a win in the 200 medley relay. Morgan Tankersly led the team, winning the 50 freestyle with a time of 24.58 and the 500 freestyle with a time of 5:01.54. Their final event win of the day came from the 200 freestyle relay.

Wharton’s Dee Sopapong doubled up, winning both the 200 IM and the 100 breaststroke to contribute to her team’s fifth place finish.

Men

  3. George Jenkins (Lakeland) – 267.5
  4. Newsome (Lithia) – 232
  5. Wharton (Tampa) – 169

Plant utlized their depth to win the district 5 championship. Tyler Heath and Paxton Rhoads led the way, each winning one individual event. Heath touched the wall at 2:04.14 to win the 200 IM while Rhoads won the 100 breaststroke with his time of 1:01.64.

 District 6

Women

  1. Riverview (Sarasota) – 469
  2. Palm Harbor University – 447
  3. East Lake (Tarpon Springs) – 349
  4. Countryside (Clearwater) – 244.5
  5. St Petersburg – 214.5

Nancy Hu led the way for Riverview, winning the women’s 100 fly with her time of 57.59. They narrowly edged out Palm Harbor University for the District team title.

East Lake’s Alexandra Aitchison doubled up, winning the 200 and the 500 freestyles. Her teammate, Sydney Pickrem also won two events, claiming the 100 backstroke and the 200 IM. The pair contributed to their team’s third place finish.

  4. Palm Harbor University – 255
  5. Seminole (Seminole) – 203

Noah Lense led the way for Countryside, winning the 100 fly with his time of 50.22. They also had control of the freestyle relays, winning both the 200 free relay and the 400 freestyle relay.

East Lake’s Grant Sanders doubled up, winning the 200 IM in 1:51.67 and the 500 free in 4:30.17.

Seminole’s Stefan Spiric also doubled up, claiming the 50 free with his time of 21.43 and the 100 free with a 46.99.
