THE GAME
You pick the top four in each event, we give you points. It’s as simple as that. We’ve cut the list off at the top 8 seeds, but have added an “other” option for anyone feeling more daring.

PRIZES
To be announced later this week, a FINIS prize package.
SCORING
We’ve changed the scoring system ever-so-slightly from the one we used for Worlds, and upped the point values for picking event winners. We felt that as compared to meets like World Championships, picking winners at NCAA’s can be a little tougher, and so we’ve made picking both the 1st and 2nd place finishers worth 4 points.
- 1st – 4 points
- 2nd – 4 points
- 3rd – 3 points
- 4th – 2 points
- Correctly Picking “Other” in correct spot – 3 bonus points, plus earned points
- Successfully predicting a swimmer in the top 4, but in the wrong spot – 1 bonus point
TIE-BREAKER
All ties will be broken by the following order:
- Who had the most 1st place picks correct
- Who had the most 2nd place picks correct
- Who had the most 3rd place picks correct
- Who had the most 4th place picks correct
- Who has the highest overall score (if tie is for a daily prize)
- Drawing of lots
OFFICIAL RULES
Before entering, please read the official rules here. Picks are due for the contest by the time Thursday’s prelims session begins.
Braden: Do you have a CSV or excel file of the Psyche? I run my contest with my friends and the biggest time is spent parsing the data! Can you help? Chris
I want to include both Arizona & Michigan in the top 4 in the 200y free relay, but only one “other” is possible. I don’t see either of them on the list, so I’m going to have to forfeit. Any help?
jiggs – as of right now, we haven’t figured out the best way to handle two selections of “Other”. If we do so in the future, it will take a total overhaul of the scoring system, because otherwise the ‘payoff picks’ would probably be picking “other” for 3rd and 4th every time.
Thanks for the feedback. No need to change the system, it’s working great. Let’s just hope that doesn’t happen.
Back to the drawing board. I’m looking to crack a hundred this time.
Can you provide a clarification on the points for “Other”? Say, if I pick “other” for 3rd and they come in 4th, do I get 0 points, or do I get 1 point under the last rule: Successfully predicting a swimmer in the top 4, but in the wrong spot – 1 bonus point. That is, does “other” count as a named swimmer?
In your scenario, you would get 1 point.
Bug: On the third day, the last page of the contest, if you select “OTHER” it deletes one of your 1, 2, or 3 choices in the same event.
PAC12BACKER – that’s interesting. What browser are you using? I just tried the same and got no glitch. I’ll email you for more details.
I bet a few people pick Thomas Glenn inadvertently… anyone know what happened?
Fortunately, we were able to swap him out after his scratch before anybody chose him. David Knight of Florida St. is the new #8 seed.
Putting Nolan and then anything Michigan towards the top. 🙂 Can’t wait to watch!

P.S. Thank you for the phenomenal coverage!
Should be updated now. Thanks for noticing.
Hey Braden – when I click on the link to enter the contest it takes me back to the article, as if I am refreshing the page. Am I doing something wrong? Thanks for making the end of season so much fun.
Ok, I think I’ve figured out this glitch. It has to do with the titles being too similar, and WordPress assigning them the same permalink. Fixing now.
