Top Races to Look For During Sunday’s Prelims

Sunday’s schedule consists of Women’s 100 Free, Men’s 50 Breast, and Women’s 100 Breast. The finals session will add a host of relays to these individual events.

The big names we’ve seen throughout the meet will all be in the women’s 100 free. The multi-class preliminary heats may well be more exciting than tonight’s finals as they are seeded by time, and thus stars of different classes will be battling each other. Notably, in heat 5 we will see Cortney Jordan, Serafina King, and Brickelle Bro competing for spots in their respective finals. Jessica Long will go up against Stefanni Cristino and Mitzi Mijares of Mexico, as well as Maddison Elliott of Australia. The final heat will consist of top seed Aurélie Rivard of Canada, Australia’s Kayla Clarke, Taylor Corry, and Katherine Downey, and USA’s Martha Ruether and Becca Meyers. Meyers has stated she is going for the world record in both the free and the breast today.

Many of the same names will swim the 100 breast as well, where once again New Zealand’s Pascoe comes in with the fastest seed time. Colleen Young, Jessica Long and Katarina Roxon are also names to look out for in the women’s 100 breast.

The men’s 50 breast includes amongst others, Curtis Lovejoy, Gideon Nasilowski, Ahmed Kelly, Michael DeMarco, Gustavo Sanchez, and Grant Patterson.
