2015 ACC Men’s Championships Day 2 Scratch Report: Top 8 Seeds Remain in Each Event

The first day of individual swimming events gets underway at Georgia Tech today, as the men take on the 500 freestyle, 200 IM and 50 freestyle events.  Some of the biggest names in the ACC will be striving for the best set-up swims as possible to achieve desired lane assignments going into tonight’s finals.

2015 ACC MEN’S CHAMPIONSHIPS – DAY 1 FINALS

500 free – The top 8 seeds remain in tact going into today’s prelims, with the lowest seeded scratch coming from University of North Carolina’s Matthew Conway.  Conway sat as the 9th seed with a time of 4:24.83; he is listed to still swim the 200 free and 200 butterfly events later in the meet.  Thus, the great battle among North Carolina State’s Anton Ipsen, Louisville’s Trevor Carroll, and Virginia’s Austin Quinn will be brewing in full force this morning.

200 IM – No notable scratches are apparent in this event, which leaves the circle-seeded heats’ top seeds of Notre Dame’s Zachary Stephens, Louisville’s Nolan Tesone, and Louisville’s Josh Quallen in their respective 7th, 6th, and 5th heats ready to handle challengers from all sides.

50 free – Lowest seed to be absent from this morning’s heat sheets is Louisville sophomore Matthias Lindenbauer, who was positioned in 10th with a time of 20.09. However, look for Lindenbauer to wreak some havoc in the first event of the day, the 500 free, where he is the 10th seed, still chasing, at minimum, that NCAA “B” cut.
