2016 Canadian Paralympic Trials: Day 3 Prelims Live Recap

2016 CANADIAN OLYMPIC AND PARALYMPIC TRIALS

On day three at the Canadian Paralympic Trials we will see the individual medley events contested. To start off the session we’ll see the women’s and men’s 200 IM (SM5-14) and then to close off the session we’ll have the women’s and men’s 150 IM (SM1-4).

Women’s 200m IM PARA SM5-14 Multi-Class Prelims

  1. Aurelie Rivard, 2:37.95, SM10
  2. Justine Morrier, 2:46.47, S14
  3. Kirstie Kasko, 2:48.88, SM14
  4. Samantha Ryan, 2:44.64, SM10
  5. Abi Tripp, 3:00.98, Sm8
  6. Katarina Roxon, 2:48.78, Sm9
  7. Camille Berube, 3:02.55, sm8
  8. Tess Routliffe, 3:18.40, SM7
  9. Sarah Mehain, 3:19.01, Sm7

Aurelie Rivard led the way in the women’s 200 IM heats, touching in 2:37.95. That times moves her into 4th in the world for 2016. Samantha Ryan, who was 4th in 2:44.64, is also in the SM10 category. Her swim moves her into 10th in the world rankings. Justine Morrier and Kirstie Kasko were 2nd and 3rd respectively, both in the SM14 category. Morrier’s 2:46.47 puts her 9th in the world for 2016, while Kasko’s 2:48.88 puts her 10th worldwide.

Men’s 200m IM PARA SM5-14 Multi-Class Prelims

  4. Maxime Rousselle, 2:24.03, S14

  7. Nicolas Turbide, 2:22.85, SM13
  8. Dalton Boon, 2:30.97, sm14
  9. Michael Qing, 2:33.53, sm14

Gordie Michie took down the top seed in the men’s 200 IM, clocking 2:19.46. Michie’s time moves him into 5th in the world rankings in the Sm14 category. 2015 World Championship silver medalist in this event Benoit Huot will be seeded 2nd for tonight after clocking 2:17.23 this morning. That swim moves him into 2nd in the world in the SM10 category, but is still quite a ways off the 2:12.50 he clocked last year. 3rd went to Adam Rahier, who took over 14th in the world rankings in the Sm14 category with his time of 2:23.29.

Women’s 150m IM PARA SM1-4 Multi-Class Prelims

  1. Tammy Cunnington, 3:41.03, SM4

Tammy Cunnington put up a time of 3:41.03 in the women’s 150m IM, putting her 2nd in the world for 2016.

Men’s 150m IM PARA SM1-4 Multi-Class Prelims

  1. Jonathan Dieleman, 3:22.93, Sm4
  2. Riley McLean, 3:48.96, SM4

Jonathan Dieleman posted the top time in the men’s 150 IM in 3:22.93, putting him 9th in the world in the Sm4 category. He is also just over two seconds off the Canadian record of 3:20.59 set in 1997 by Garth HarrisRiley McLean, also in the SM4 category, posted a time of 3:48.96. That ranks him 13th in the world for 2016.
