2016 CANADIAN OLYMPIC AND PARALYMPIC TRIALS

The final night is upon us at the Canadian Olympic & Paralympic Trials in Toronto, as the Para swimmers will get their last chance to put up a time to get them on the team tonight in the 100 freestyle. The roster will be named at the end of the session tonight.

Women’s 100m Freestyle PARA S1-14 Multi-Class Finals

  1. Aurelie Rivard, 1:01.55, S10
  2. Morgan Bird, 1:11.38, S8
  3. Abi Tripp, 1:11.71, S8

World record holder in the S10 category Aurelie Rivard picked up her 5th win of the meet in the 100 freestyle, finishing with a time of 1:01.55. The time puts her 3rd in the world for 2016. Morgan Bird (1:11.38) and Abi Tripp (1:11.71) finished 2nd and 3rd respectively, both competing in the S8 category. Those times move them into 3rd and 4th in the world.

Men’s 100m Freestyle PARA S1-14 Multi-Class Finals

  1. Zack McAllister, 1:00.92, S8
  2. Nathan Stein, 54.83, S10
  3. Isaac Bouckley, 55.63, S10

Despite not touching first Zack McAllister picked up the win in the 100 freestyle in 1:00.92, a new Canadian record. McAllister’s time ranks him 2nd in the world in the S8 category. Nathan Stein (54.83) and Isaac Bouckley (55.63) finished 2nd and 3rd, both swimming in the S10 category. Those times puts them 2nd and 5th in the world for 2016.
