2016 NCAA Division II Championships – Day 3 Ups/Downs

Division II Men’s and Women’s Swimming and Diving Championships

Women’s Ups/Downs – Day Three

Queens looks to be unstoppable, having put two swimmers in the A finals of the 500 free, 100 breast and 200 fly and one in the 100 back. The Royals earned a total of 10 spots in finals tonight, and are top seeds in the 800 free relay by 8 seconds; Day 3 will be their biggest day yet.

Other big winners in the women’s meet this morning were Wingate, West Florida, Nova Southeastern, Wayne State, Grand Valley, and Findlay. Grand Valley hit it out of the park in diving, while Wingate’s performance in the back and breast should help them distinguish themselves from Drury and San Diego in the race for second place.

Below are the Ups (“A” finalists) / Downs (“B” finalists) at the conclusion of Day 3 prelims.

Men’s Ups/Downs – Day Three

Queens had another highly successful morning, earning 5 A finals and 2 Bs. Even without the 800 free relay, in which the Royals are seeded third but have a not-so-secret weapon in new NCAA record-holder Dion Dreesens, Queens is continuing to move away from the pack toward a repeat NCAA team title with successful performances in individual events. Florida Southern, UC San Diego and Wayne State also made progress this morning.
