Following day 4 finals at the 2016 FINA Short Course World Championships in Windsor, Canada, Team USA has increased its lead with a total of 25 medals. Russia (12) and Japan (11) have maintained 2nd and 3rd respectively, but Hungary (10) has started to close the gap, increasing their total to double digits to sit in 4th.
Hungarian iron lady Katinka Hosszu pushed her team to 6 total golds, tacking on another to their count after winning tonight’s 200 IM. In terms of total gold, Hungary is now 2nd, just 1 gold medal back from Team USA (7).
The USA’s gold total remains at 7, as they didn’t pick up any new golds tonight, but they did pick up 7 more medals throughout the session. The Americans took both silver and bronze in 2 events tonight. In the 200 IM, Madisyn Cox and Ella Eastin landed on the podium, while Lilly King and Molly Hannis medaled in the 100 breast. Tom Shields and Ali DeLoof also contributed individual medals, with Shields taking silver in the 50 fly and DeLoof taking bronze in the 50 back. The men’s 200 medley relay and women’s 800 free relay both finished 2nd.
