2016 ACC WOMEN’S CHAMPIONSHIP

The Virginia Cavaliers gained a clear edge this morning with nine swimmers in individual A-finals tonight, including a pair of tight finishes from their sprinters to sneak in by less than 0.05 seconds. However, NC State and Louisville aren’t going to go down easy.  The Wolfpack continue to make noise after going shot-for-shot with Virginia last night, putting three swimmers up in the 50 freestyle to keep the Cavaliers within striking distance.  Louisville has five swimmers in the top 8 tonight, including Kelsi Worrell in the 50.

Full up/mid/down results (ACC’s scores to 24 places) are below, including estimated point totals for the day.  We understand that things change between morning and evening (some top swimmers hold back a bit, etc.), so to calculate estimates, we took the average number of points a finisher in an A, B, or C final will score.

Note: Ups refer to swimmers in the A final, who can finish no lower than 8th barring a DQ; Mids refer to swimmers in the B final, who can finish no higher than 9th and no lower than 16th (again, barring a DQ on the low end); and Downs refer to swimmers in the C final, who can finish no higher than 17th and no lower than 24th (again, barring a DQ on the low end)
