Junker23 continues to lead our Pick ‘Em contest, but a huge day from Captain Ahab has the leading margin at just 3 points with two days left to swim.
Captain Ahab scored 31 on day 6, a top-10 score for the day and enough to vault to 2nd place. Today’s top scorer was john26, who earned 42 points, followed closesly by sara.

HOW EVERYONE DID
It was a big day for upsets, as three of five gold medalists were correctly predicted by less than 10% of contestants. Here’s a quick look:

Just 10 players correctly picked junior world record-holder Anton Chupkov to triumph over senior world record-holder Ippei Watanabe in the men’s 200 breast. Only 15 saw Great Britain defending its 2015 world title in the 4×200 free relay, and only 22 players picked Simone Manuel to successfully defend her 2016 Olympic title in the women’s 100 free.
Evgeny Rylov‘s win in the 200 back was relatively underpredicted, too, but Yulia Efimova was the heavy favorite to win the 200 breast, getting almost 300 correct winner picks.
A couple more stats of note:
- Not a single player picked Pernille Blume to finish anywhere in the top 4 of the 100 free. She took bronze.
- Only 2% of players picked Bethany Galat to take a the silver medal in the 200 breast.
