Scoring system reminder

It was a massive day 8 in terms of total points, with 8 medal finals, but a relatively predictable day in terms of upsets. That left Joker23 atop our leaderboard as the official winner of our 2017 World Championships Pick ‘Em Contest.

Most days yielded point-values somewhere in the 60s to our top players; day 8 brought nearly 100 points to aceiknow, who led the day with 98.

Congrats to all who entered. You can see your full day-by-day scores and review your picks at the link above. We’ll be reaching out to prize-winners soon to coordinate your awards.

A few more interesting stats from day 8:

  • In the women’s medley relay, just one player correctly predicted Russia’s silver medal.
  • In the men’s 400 IM, Kosuke Hagino appeared in the top 4 on 324 of 334 ballots, including 20% of winner picks and 60% of silver picks. He finished 6th.
  • 4th-placers were the trickiest to call today. Jeremy Stravius was only on 5 ballots in the 50 back for any place, and Max Litchfield only on 12 ballots in any place in the 400 IM.

Adam Peaty didn’t get 100% of the picks in the 100 breast? What’s a guy gotta do? Also surprised 4% of people thought Hosszu would lose the 200 IM on home soil.
