2018 CIF Central Section Psych Sheets Are Now Available

2018 California Interscholastic Federation Central Section Swimming & Diving Championships

The CIF-Central Section Divisions 1 and 2 have each released their psych sheets for this weekend’s championship meets. The two meets are run separately, although the D1 and D2 divers compete together. Division 1 swimming finals will be on Saturday at Clovis West High School, while D2 swimming finals will run simultaneously at Bakersfield College.

Division 1

Psych Sheet

In the girls’ meet, Clovis HS has the #1 seeding in the medley relay while Clovis West holds the top spot in both freestyle relays. Clovis West’s Abby Samansky comes in with the fastest times in the 100 free and 200 free; hear teammate Caitlyn Snyder tops the field in the 50 free. Averee Preble of Clovis is #1 in the 100 fly and 500 free. Redwood’s Alex Roberts leads the qualifiers in the 200 IM and 100 back. Liberty’s Sydney Yasukochi has the fastest 100 breast.

Defending champions Clovis North comes in with the fastest time in all three relays, as well as the #1 seed in the 50 free and 100 fly, Michael Jia, and the #1 500 freestyler, Theo Tuggle. Clovis West’s Austin Lane is the fastest qualifier in the 100 back and Centennial’s Alex Castro leads the field in the 100 breast. Other #1 seeds include Frontier’s Colin Rabanal (100 free), Buchanan’s Tyler Mansheim (200 free), and Chance Miller of Garces (200 IM).

Division 2

Psych Sheet

Madera’s Tara Goertzen is top seed in two events (200 free, 100 breast), as is Wasco Union’s Abigail Abshire (50 free, 100 free). Other top seeds include Jessica Riggs of Tehachapi (200 IM), Brianna Colado of Selma (100 fly), El Diamante’s Janessa Bringe (500 free), and Bakersfield’s Adria Golla (100 back).

Jonas Huckabay of Kingsburg heads the psych sheet in the two distance events (200 free and 500 free), while Porterville’s Grant Snyder tops the field in the sprints (50 free, 100 free). Hanford West’s Alonso Escobedo (200 IM), Coalinga’s Garrison Price (100 fly), Nathan Roodzant of Bakersfield Christian (100 back), and Wyatt Ward of Kingsburg (100 breast) make up the rest of the #1 seeds.

CIF State Meet Qualifying Standards

As a reminder, the various California Sections may send swimmers and divers to the State Meet, using the following formula for each event:

  • CIF Southern 5
  • CIF North Coast 3
  • San Diego 3
  • CIF Sac-Joaquin 3
  • CIF Central Coast 3
  • CIF Central 2
  • CIF Los Angeles 2
  • CIF Northern 1
  • CIF San Francisco 1
  • CIF Oakland 1

At-Large Entries

Swimming: Once allocated automatic qualifying spots from each section are filled, sections may enter additional competitors provided they have met or bettered the “At-Large” Automatic or Consideration standard for their event in their Section Meet that qualifies athletes for the CIF State Swimming & Diving Championships. In the event that there are not 40 automatic qualifiers, consideration times will be used to fill each event to 40 qualifiers/relay teams. “At-Large” qualifying times must be achieved in Finals of the Section Championships. All times must be recorded on “Fully Automatic Timing” systems (FAT). No hand times will be accepted.

Diving: No At Large Qualifiers. Each section will get one additional entry for diving.

CIF State Meet Qualifying Time Standards (Times must be obtained at Section Championship meet in individual events. No relay lead-off times permitted.)
