Denver took off in both the men’s and women’s team scoring, sweeping the events today and extending their combined win streak to 54 events at the Summit League Championships.

The Denver women’s 200 free relay team of Morgan Wice-Roslin, Lauren Moden, Morgan McCormick, and and Aysia Leckie combined to smash the Denver school record and Summit League record of 1:30.77, posting a 1:29.35. That time comes in under the NCAA ‘B’ cut, allowing them to swim it at the NCAAs if they achieve an ‘A’ cut in a relay this weekend. Denver had the only splits under 23, with all 4 of the Pioneer splits coming in at 22.7 or faster.

Denver’s men took a win by 3 seconds in the 200 free relay, posting a 1:18.10, which is half a second off their season best of 1:17.61. Denver’s season best is an ‘A’ cut, which means that they still need an individual ‘A’ cut to qualify their ‘B’ cut relays. Cameron Auchinachie led off with a speedy 19.58, followed by Sid Farber (19.42), Stephen Calkins (19.35), and Anton Loncar (19.75).

Maddie Myers sped to a victory in the women’s 500 free, clocking a 4:45.38. that time was just off her Summit League record of 4:44.12 from last year, and was her 2nd fastest time of the season, coming in behind her 4:43.43 lifetime best from November. Teammate Annelyse Tullier came in 2nd with a 4:47.05.

Colin Gilbert won the men’s 500 by 7 seconds, to post his 2nd fastest time of the season. Gilbert went 4:17.72, coming in a substantial amount off his Summit League record of 4:15.73 from last year. Gilbert’s best time this season is a 4:16.32 from November.

Denver teammates Josiane Valette, Morgan McCormick, Heidi Bradley, and Kylie Cronin battled in a very tight race in the women’s 100 fly. Valette came in 1st, posting a 53.20, followed by McCormick (53.33), Bradley (53.40), and Cronin (53.49). Valette had the fastest 1st 50, posting a 24.54, but also had the slowest 2nd 50 of the top 4 at 28.66.

Cameron Auchinachie won the men’s 50 free with a 19.45, a little faster than he went to lead off the 200 free relay. Bailey Andison went a 1:58.09 to win the women’s 200 IM, way off her season best of 1:54.38. Her season best marks Denver’s ‘A’ cut on the women’s team, which is why they need an ‘A’ cut in a relay this weekend so they can swim multiple relays at the NCAAs.
