Anna Serino of Calvin won heat 1 in 5:06.94. Heat 2 went to Alexandra Dixon of Emory in exactly 5:00.00, which was a 1.97-second improvement from her seed time. Coming in just behind was Allison Kapostasy of NYU in 5:00.95 (-3.81 seconds). Jaime Robinson of NYU dropped 3.35 from her entry time to win heat 3 in 4:56.95. Dickinson’s Olivia Lyman was second with 458.23 (-2.43).

Defending champion Laura Westphal of Williams won the first circle-seeded heat in 4:50.28 ahead of Kendall Vanderhoof of Kenyon (4:51.36, -3.16). Third in the heat was Rachel Reistroffer from NYU with 4:55.09 (-2.10).

Kenyon’s Hannah Orbach-Mandel improved her seed time by .58 to win heat 5 in 4:54.54. St. Kate’s freshman Margaret Menso, second with 4:55.17, sprinted over the last 25 but didn’t quite catch Orbach-Mandel.

Wheaton’s Lydia Dacorte took the final heat with 4:54.78 over Birmingham Southern’s Rebecca Erwin (4:55.85) and Denison’s Hannah Rusinko (4:56.84).

LaCrosse junior Maria Vaudreuil went 4.76 seconds better than her entry time to win heat 1 of 200 IMs with 2:12.94. Williams junior Caroline White took the next heat in 2:02.72, improving her seed time by 8.8 seconds and going .13 faster than her finals time last year, when she finished 5th. Bowdoin junior Marshall Lowery was second in that heat with 2:06.96, a 5.9-second drop from her entry time. The next heat was very close, with Carnegie Mellon sophomore Jessica Chau getting the touch (2:07.19, -1.29) over MIT sophomore Hannah Mahaffey (2:07.52, -.59) and Chicago sophomore Nadia Redza (-.23) and Kenyon junior Micah Otazu (-.03), both of whom touched at 2:07.76.

Carnegie Mellon junior Emma Nicklas-Morris (13th in 2018 and 8th in 2017) improved her seed time by 1.75 seconds in winning heat 4 with 2:05.22. Amherst senior Bridgitte Kwong was second with 2:06.31. NYU junior Honore Collins (2017 NCAA champion, 3rd in 2018) swam 2:01.43 to open the circle-seeded heats, coming to the wall ahead of Bowdoin senior Sterling Dixon (2:01.60, -1.05) and Emory senior Ashley Daniels (2:04.75, -.25).

2018 runner-up KT Kustritz of Denison won the penultimate heat by over a body length in 2:00.61. Denison junior Natalie Zaravella (2:02.31, -1.48), who finished 12th last year, came to the wall ahead of Emory senior Julia Durmer (2:03.99) for second in the heat. Durmer was 9th a year ago.

Kenyon sophomore, defending champion, and NCAA record-holder Crile Hart finished the heats of 200 IMs with a 2:00.15. Williams sophomore Molly Craig went 2:01.46 (-1.23) for second, just touching out St. Kate’s freshman Jordyn Wentzel (2:01.51 -.24).

Hope sophomore Meghan Peel nailed the first heat of 50 frees from lane 1, going 23.79 to take 2.1 seconds off her entry time. Bates sophomore Caroline Apathy dropped .27 from her seed time to win heat 2 in 23.98, just edging Ursinus senior Clara Baker (24.09). Emory sophomore Lucena Daro was 23.61 (-.18) in the next heat, coming to the wall .10 ahead of Bowdoin sophomore Mary Laurita (23.61, -.15).

Ursinus sophomore Sophie May improved her entry time by .10, winning heat 4 with 23.62. Mollie Seidner of Wash U was .01 behind in 23.63 (-.07). Pomona-Pitzer junior Hannah Zurmuhl was 23.39 (-.18) to lead heat 5 over Kenyon freshman Andrea Perttula (23.50, -.15) and Denison junior Gabriella Nutter (23.64). The next heat, the first of the circle-seeds, went to Kenyon sophomore Emmerson Mirus in a first sub-23 (22.97). Wheaton senior Brooke Barnes clocked a 23.26 (-.07) for second in the heat, ahead of Connecticut senior Olivia Haskell (23.34, -.21) and Emory freshman Zoe Walker (23.43, -.06).

Defending champion and NCAA record-holder Fiona Muir of Emory followed, winning heat 7 in 22.85 with teammate Morgan Taylor (23.26) in tow. Taylor out-touched SUNY Geneseo sophomore Deidra Osula (23.28, -.07) and Kenyon sophomore Caylee Hamilton (23.53).

Johns Hopkins sophomore Kristen Peterson won the final heat in 23.02, slicing .33 off her seed time. Denison sophomore Madison Hopkins, the top seed in this event, was second in 23.17. Cortland junior Kelly Davey took third with 23.44.

Kenyon turned in the fastest qualifying time in the medley relay with legs from the all-sophomore quartet of Crile Hart (26.07), Makena Markert (28.21), Caylee Hamilton (24.44), and Emmerson Mirus (22.76). Denison’s Angela Le (26.44), KT Kustritz (27.83), Madison Hopkins (24.36), and Gabriella Nutter (23.19) posted a 1:41.82 for the second-fastest time. Pomona-Pitzer (Angela Ling, Mackenzie Cummings, Allison Liu, and Hannah Zurmuhl) were third.
