1. UBC Performance Swim Camp (Spring)

UBC Performance Swim Camp will include all facets of stroke mechanics and drills for all strokes, dives, starts and turns. The Camp will focus on the technical aspects of strokes, training, and physical conditioning. The different strokes will be reviewed, analyzed and corrective feedback will be provided throughout the week.Guests with National Swim Team experience will present at the camp. There will be two water workout sessions each day as well as related dry-land strength and conditioning workouts. In-water sessions will be complemented by on-deck and/or classroom sessions that will address a wide variety of sport performance topics.

2. Competitive Swimming Stroke & Skill Clinics (Spring)

The Competitive Swimming Stroke & Skills Clinic is for competitive swimmers wishing to improve targeting strokes, starts and turns. Each clinic will have a specific theme and will teach, analyze and provide feedback to the participants. There are two water sessions for each day with some dryland time to provide further feedback.

  • Ages: 11-17 years old

April 21: Freestyle and Backstroke technique Skills & Drills

3. UBC Performance Swim Camp (Summer)

UBC Performance Swim Camp will include all facets of stroke mechanics and drills for all strokes, dives, starts and turns. The Camp will focus on the technical aspects of strokes, training, and physical conditioning. The different strokes will be reviewed, analyzed and corrective feedback will be provided throughout the week. Guests with National Swim Team experience will present at the camp. There will be two water workout sessions each day as well as related dry-land strength and conditioning workouts. In-water sessions will be complemented by on-deck and/or classroom sessions that will address a wide variety of sport performance topics. Overall, competitive swimmers will leave UBC Performance Swim Camp having refined their technique, learned new skills and feeling good about their approach to performance training.

4. Competitive Swimming Stroke Development Camp (Summer)

The Competitive Swimming Stroke Development Camp is an intermediate-level competitive swimming program designed for swimmers proficient in their strokes (freestyle, backstroke, breaststroke & butterfly). The focus of this half-day camp is to improve the camper’s strokes, starts, turns and swimming-focused dryland training in a fun, low-pressure environment. This program is designed for campers to improve their skills so they may enroll in the Performance Swim Camps in the future. Pre-requisite: ability to swim 100m freestyle under 1:40 min and 100m individual medley under 2:00 min.

5. Swim Specific Strength, Power, Speed Performance Camp

Our Swim Specific Performance Camp teaches young athletes what it takes to develop the fundamental movement patterns and tools necessary for increasing swimming performance and overall health. Each day consists of two 90-minute sessions, one in the weight room and the other on the field. This camp focuses on having fun while teaching young athletes fundamental motor and movement patterns – the building blocks for future athletic success. Campers learn on-deck activation work for pre-training and competition, as well as bodyweight and medicine ball strength exercises.

  • Location: Smith and Laycoe Varsity Training Centre, 6066 Thunderbird Boulevard Vancouver, BC
  • Dates: July 22-26, 2019
  • Time:  1:00PM – 4:00PM
