The reigning champion Incarnate Word men kicked off the 2020 CCSA Championships with a new Meet Record in the 800 free relay. Alvaro Ibarra led them off in 1:37.42, handing off to Leonardo Sanchez (1:37.17). That smashed Ibarra’s best time by 4 seconds. Freshman Norbert Aranyi put up a 1:38.87 on the 3rd leg. Hector Cruz then anchored them to victory with a 1:36.73 split en route to a 6:30.19 record. That took down UMBC’s former mark from 2014.
FAU was 2nd in 6:33.45, highlighted by Josh Fountain‘s 1:36.93 anchor split. Fountain came from behind to pull them ahead of Gardner-Webb, who took 3rd in 6:34.40. Zach Dingfield had their fastest split en route to bronze, clocking a 1:37.23 on the 3rd leg.
Gardner-Webb narrowly missed the Meet Record in the 200 medley relay as they won in 1:27.74. Brady Fields (back- 21.92), Jordan Mintz (breast- 24.49), Tim Bennett (fly-21.45), and Dingfield (free- 19.88) combined for the win. Old Dominion took the silver there in 1:28.73 as Filip Svedberg put up a 21.02 on the fly and Parker Harp anchored in 19.86. Incarnate Word (1:29.27) nabbed the bronze, highlighted by a 24.50 breast split from Oleksandr Karpenko and a 21.44 on the fly from Bryce Kuchan.

The defending champion Liberty women kicked the 2020 CCSA Championships off with a sweep of the relays. Freshman Eva Suggs led them off in 1:49.14, while Hannah Baker put up their fastest split in a 1:48.01 on the 2nd leg. Their 7:18.41 was a win by nearly 4 seconds. FGCU came in 2nd with a 7:22.24 as Liz Zeiger (1:48.79) and freshman Kaja Reinhardt (1:50.13) brought them from behind Incarnate Word (7:23.87) on the back half.
Liberty also won the 200 medley relay in a dominant 1:38.79. That was highlighted by a 27.90 breast split from Mikayla Herich and a 22.11 anchor from Colleen Donlin. FGCU again took the silver in 1:40.54. However, FGCU leads Liberty in total scoring as they outscored Liberty in diving. Petra Halmai put up a 28.06 breast split for the Eagles, while Wiktoria Czarnecka anchored in 22.14.
Taking the bronze was Gardner-Webb, whose Audrey Robinson anchored in 23.43 to out-touch Incarnate Word by a hundredth, 1:43.25 to 1:43.26.
