COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – The 2020 Mountain West Swimming and Diving Championships return to Minneapolis, Minnesota, on Wednesday as 10 league teams take to the pool to compete for the Conference crown. The four-day event opens competition Wednesday, February 19, and wraps up Saturday, February 22.
This year’s championships mark the second consecutive year the event will take place at the Jean K. Freeman Aquatic Center located on the campus of the University of Minnesota.

STORYLINES
- In 2019, San Diego State took the team title with a total of 1,364 points. It marked the fourth Conference title for the Aztecs and their first since 2015.
- SDSU will look to defend its title this year and is trying to become the first team to take home consecutive titles since Boise State won back-to-back championships in 2017-2018. The team has finished in the top two the last three years.
- San Diego State is led by a myriad of talented swimmers and divers. Senior swimmer Morganne McKennan posted the third-fastest 100 breaststroke time in Conference history (59.83; 11/21/19) this season, while teammate Klara Thormalm recorded the sixth-fastest MW time (2:11.24; 11/22/19) in the 200 breaststroke. Senior Courtney Vincent posted the second-fastest historical time on the 100 butterfly (51.86; 11/20/19), while diver Ximena Lechuga Gonzalez dominated from the 1-meter and 3-meter boards. Lechuga Gonzalez holds the ninth-best 1-meter score (327.15; 1/24/20) and third-best 3-meter score (383.03; 1/24/20).
- Nevada senior Andressa Cholodovsksis posted the top MW time this season in both the 200 freestyle (1:46.68; 11/22/19) and 200 individual medley (1:59.82; 11/21/19). The 200 freestyle time was the eighth-fastest in MW history.
- Wyoming diver Melissa Mirafuentes recorded the highest platform dive score in the league this season. The Cowgirl tallied 296.00 in the preliminary round on February 8, and 282.00 in the finals on January 19, good for fourth-best and fifth-best in Conference history, respectively.
