Women

The distance swimmers did not come to Beaverton it would seem. After no entries in the women’s 800 free on Thursday night, there was no one for whom to hold a heat of 400 free on Friday, either. The women’s contest on Friday morning consisted of just one heat of 200 IM, one of 50 free, and two of 100 breast.

Taylor McCoy of Cougar Aquatics won the 200 IM posting a time of 2:21.56, only about 7/10 off her lifetime best of 2:20.83 from 2019 Speedo Grand Challenge. Fay Lustria from Tualatin Hills came in second, dropping just over 1.2 seconds to notch a PB of 2:23.07. Bellevue Club’s Mia Chang rounded out the top three with 2:23.52, about 5 seconds off her best time.

Lily Gardner of Tualatin Hills Swim Club broke 27 for the first time to win the 50 free in 26.49. She beat Stanford commit Amy Tang (26.57), Jillian Visscher (26.77), and her THSC teammate Lizzy Cook (26.78).

UCLA commit Eva Carlson took .02 off her seed time to win the 100 breast in 1:10.81. PRO Swimming’s Catherine Yu followed in 1:12.96, just touching out Lake Oswego’s Abby Maoz (1:13.30).

Men

Noah Brune of Bellevue Club, who won the 800 free on Thursday night, picked up his second win with 4:06.26. Finishing second and third were Vlad Gilszmer of Seattle Metropolitan (4:15.65) and Riley Babson, swimming unattached (4:22.32).

In the 200 IM, only 1.3 seconds separated the five finishers. Seattle Metropolitan’s Tyler Lu go the win with 2:06.20, followed by Kevin Keil (2:06.75), Marco Nosack (2:06.82) and Diego Nosack (2:07.03) of Tualatin Hills, and Bellevue Club’s Nathan Lee (4:07.49). The Nosack brothers both dropped time; Marco improved by .4 while Diego took 1.7 off his seed time.

The men’s meet wrapped up with the 50 free, where Santo Condorelli, representing The Dolphins Swim Team, came within .06 of his seed time to win in 22.27. Wolverine Aquatics Club’s John Donovan dropped .40 to take second place with 23.29. Billy Oates of King Aquatic Club also improved his seed time, coming in third with 24.00.

Marco Nosack followed up on his 200 IM performance with a 1.68-second drop in the 100 breast to win that event with 1:05.08. Bellevue Club’s Charlie Arnold took 1 second off his seed time to come in second with 1:05.81. Tyler Lu edged Jeremy Freeman of SMAC, 1:06.82 to 1:06.93, for third.
