2021-22 NCAA Swim & Dive Action Kicks Off Tomorrow with UNCW vs Army Dual Meet

The 2021-2022 NCAA swimming & diving season has arrived, with Army and UNC Wilmington set to kick off this year’s NCAA action with a dual meet at UNCW tomorrow.

UNC Wilmington is hosting Army at the Seahawk Natatorium, which will be the first official NCAA meet of the season. The meet is scheduled to begin at 2 p.m. Eastern Time, and will be streaming on FloSports.

The Seahawks return both the Colonial Athletic Association divers of the year from last season. Junior Courtney Klausen was the CAA Women’s Diver of the Year, while Kolbein Bjugan earned the men’s honors. Coincidentally, both Klausen and Bjugan are UNCW team record holders in 1-meter diving.

UNCW also returns Henderson Louviere, a rising junior who is the defending CAA champion in both the men’s 200 and 400 IMs.

Army returns Ian Tansill, who as a freshman last year was one of the top men’s distance swimmers in the Patriot League. Backstroker Sam Wesley also made a splash last year as a freshman.

Army also brings its tough breaststroke group back. Senior Evan Zhang was the 2nd-fastest men’s 100 breaststroker and 3rd-fastest 200 breaststroker in the conference last year, while junior Mandolin Nguyen was #2 in the conference in both women’s breast events.

Also taking place tomorrow is the CSCAA Open Water Championships. This year’s race is being held in Lawrence, Kansas. As a reminder, the top 5 men’s and women’s finishers each earn invites to the USA Swimming 5k Open Water Championships next year.

Great event, but don’t think it’s an NCAA meet….

Not going to pay $29.99 for a stream. FloSwimming used to be the best.

The battle of former NC State coaches. Love it.

Was the St Louis Showcase last weekend not NCAA official? It was long course, so that might be why not. Basically a McKendree/UMSL/Maryville tri meet.

I’m pretty sure that meet was canceled.

My bad. It wasn’t canceled. I know someone who swims for another college that was supposed to go…but that college canceled. But you are right…it was long course, so that may be the reason it wasn’t “NCAA Official”.

I’m friends with UMSL’s head coach, so I was pretty sure they did have it unless he was making things up 😛
