Cali Condors’ Leonie Kullman also had a strong back half. She pulled even with Igarashi at the 300 and powered home to just out-touch her, 4:05.76 to 4:05.98, for second place.

With the 2021 season, the ISL now awards 53 points (instead of the normal 37 per event) for the 400s. In the 400 free, there is a checkpoint after the first 100 where the top five leaders earn 6-4-3-2-1 points. Madden and Igarashi, then, were assured 10 checkpoint points in addition to their final placement points. Dumont, who had been in third place at the 100, picked up 3 points at the checkpoint. In addition, she jackpotted the 7th and 8th place finishers, both from NY Breakers.

Team Scores:

  1. Cali Condors – 255
  2. LA Current – 186
  3. Tokyo Frog Kings – 160
  4. NY Breakers – 102

The article refers numerous times to the LA Condors – perhaps that can get fixed? Thank you

They listened to Rowdy too much 🤣 he’s called them LA Condors, too.

Tokyo has a Swiss Army knife in Yui Ohashi and uses her in one event.

Where are Vlad and Bruno?

sad because my fav LA Current is really missing Ryan Murphy right about now ;-(

and also little confused as to why Gastaldello isn’t doing her usual events oops

Because she’s tired off the Olympics? Think this meet really showed the difference between those who’ve peaked for the Games and those who didn’t. Massively benefits Cali

Exactly. Swimmers who didn’t participate in the Olympics did comparatively better at ISL now.

Women’s skins: NY removed Breaststroke, LA removed Butterfly, Cali chose Backstroke.
Men’s skins: NY removed Breaststroke, Tokyo removed Freestyle, Cali chose Backstroke.

(just posting in case they don’t care to share quickly again like match 1)

They do it as part of the stream at the end of racing on isl site, but you have to keep the stream open through the dead space where they don’t cut mics half the time etc. it’s not clearly announced either so is now normally being done 5-10mins after the “main” broadcast finishes rather 2hours later like last year.

Cali giving Dressel a break and throwing up Stewart for backstroke skins.

Shouldnt need to race him but wouldn’t be surprised if they still throw Dressel in as I suspect he would do better than Brodie Williams (although I would like to see him get his chance and to redeem the slip in the 50 today).

Brodie REALLY isn’t (historically) a 50 swimmer. Agree that tomorrow it won’t matter at all but it wouldn’t surprise me to see Dressell or another pure sprinter in the water

Oh yeah I get that as I have seen the 200s and 4im done at trials etc. would just like to see him get a chance to have another crack at that 50 after the slip but after all coaches decision not ours especially as others are apotential better fit, he could be moved to 4im etc.

Why didn’t Cali called for butterfly skin? Caeleb can do that right? Just wondering.

Cos they will already have won by a canter so probably want to play around and also show other teams that a pick involving back doesn’t scare them!

48.91 is a new American record. And it makes him the 4th fastest swimmer all time, behind Kolesnikov, Rylov and Xu.
