This year’s edition of the annual Flanders Swimming Cup is slated for this upcoming weekend, spanning Saturday, January 22nd and Sunday, January 23rd in Antwerp, Belgium.

Although in the past we’ve enjoyed performances by the likes of British powerhouse athletes James Guy, Freya Anderson and Jacob Whittle, this time around we’re seeing athletes closer to home take on the two-day meet.

Highlighting the strong Dutch roster slated to compete is Thomas Verhoeven, Maarten Brzoskowski and Roos Vanotterdijk.

The host nation is set to see Louis Croenen and Lander Hendrickx and Jade Smits among its representatives.

Spaniard Cesar Castro is also expected to make several appearances, as is Austria’s Bernhard Reitshammer.

27-year-old Reitshammer is coming off of a notable 2021 swimming year, having earned bronze in the men’s 100m IM at the 2021 European Short Course Championships.
