Harvard and Princeton are locked in a tight battle for the top of the standings, with the Crimson leading the Tigers by 36 points after the 400 medley relay on Friday night. Day 4 will feature prelims of the 200 back, 100 free, 200 breast, and 200 fly. While Princeton is expected to earn massive points in diving, Harvard has the potential to put the contest to rest with their results in the 1650 and 100 freestyles.

Brown, Columbia, Penn, and Yale are vying for the coveted third spot. Penn had the edge as of last night but only by 3 points over Brown.

Cornell’s Vlad Gilszmer went from no-time to 22nd overall with a 1:49.44 win in heat 1.

Harvard’s Anthony Rincon dropped 1.7 seconds from his seed time to win heat 2 in 1:42.42. Princeton’s Brett Feyerick touched second (1:44.31), just ahead of Yale’s Cristian Bell (1:45.32).

Penn’s Daniel Gallagher won heat 3 with 1:43.50, taking over from teammate Mark McCrary who had led through the first half of the race. Reid Arwood of Brown came from behind over the second half to challenge Gallagher and finished second with 1:44.30, just ahead of teammate Carlos Munoz (1:45.60).

Top-seeded Will Grant of Harvard, who won the 100 back title last night, won the final heat in 1:42.28. Penn’s Keanan Dols (1:43.87) beat Kyle Won (1:44.32) and Joseph Licht (1:44.84) of Columbia for second place.

Penn’s Jack Hamilton edged Columbia’s Albert Gwo, 44.59 to 44.71, to win heat 1. Yale’s Marcus Hodgson emerged victorious in heat 2, going 44.94 and shaving 1.5 seconds off his seed time. He was followed by Dartmouth’s Steven Mendley in lane 8 (45.22) who touched out Yale’s Nathan Stern by .01.

Harvard’s Raphael Marcoux took half a second off his entry time to win the first circle-seeded heat with 43.37. teammates Marcus Holmquist (43.69) and Ryan Linnihan (44.03) followed.

2022 Ivy League 50 free champion Mahlon Reihman of Harvard won the next heat in 42.61. Yale’s Joseph Page (43.45) and Penn’s Benjamin Feldman (43.65) took second and third.

Ivy record-holder and top seed Dean Farris of Harvard cruised to a 43.05 win in the final heat. He was pursued the entire race by Princeton’s Max Walther, who took .9 off his seed time to finish just .04 behind Farris. Yale’s Philippe Marcoux came in third with 43.49. Princeton also took fourth and fifth in the heat with Josh Brown (44.23) and Adell Sabovic (44.56).

Men’s 200 Breaststroke – Prelims

Dartmouth’s Connor Richmond won an all-Big Green heat to kick off the 200 breaststrokes, dropping 6.8 seconds to stop the clock at 2:00.92 for a 5.2-second margin over second-place Parker Hershberger.

Brown’s Jack Kelly won the first circle-seeded heat in 1:54.32, beating Harvard’s Jared Simpson (1:56.33) by 2 seconds. Columbia’s David Wang (1:57.22) edged teammate Michael Chang (1:58.62) for third place in the heat.

The penultimate heat went to Columbia’s Demirkan Demir, who won the 100 breast last night. He improved his seed time by .2 to take heat 3 with 1:54.02, more than two body lengths ahead of Penn’s Neil Simpson (1:56.45). Cornell’s Jacob Bass dropped 2.3 seconds to finish third with 1:56.93.

Top-seeded Matthew Fallon of Penn, who came into the meet with the nation’s top time, went 1:51.69 to win the final heat by 4.5 seconds with a new Ivy League record and DeNunzio pool record. Teammate Jason Schreiber improved his seed time by .8 to take second with 1:55.15. Princeton’s Brian Lou (1:56.17) dropped .9 to finish third.

Men’s 200 Butterfly – Prelims

Horace Qiao of Brown won heat 1 with 1:49.55, having entered with no time. Columbia’s Seungjoon Ahn came from behind to beat Princeton’s Nicholas Lim, 1:44.68 to 1:44.99, in heat 2. Cornell’s Joseph Gurski was third (1:45.56). Brown’s Ben Hayes touched out Peyton Werner of Princeton, 1:47.12 to 1:47.23, for fourth.

Jacob Johnson won heat 3 with 1:44.84, coming to the wall just four-tenths in front of Harvard teammate Aayush Deshpande (1:45.28). Yale’s Connor Kang was third with 1:46.05.

Top-seeded Raunak Khosla of Princeton was just .24 off his seed time in winning the final heat with 1:42.72. Teammate Max Kreidl dropped 1.5 seconds to finish in second place with 1:43.76, 1.5 seconds ahead of Penn’s Andrew Dai (1:45.37), who also dropped time (1.9 seconds).
