2023, 2024 Mare Nostrum Schedules Revealed with $150,000+ in Prize Money

The schedule for the 2023 and 2024 Mare Nostrum Swim Series has been revealed, with all three meets planning to broadcast finals live. The 2023 series will run from May 13-21, 2023, and make stops in Canet, France; Barcelona, Spain; and Monaco. The 2024 series will run from May 25-June 2 with the same three stops.

All three meets are approved qualifiers for both the 2023 World Aquatics Championships and the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.

The series is arguably the most significant non-World Aquatics meet globally every season, and attracts top swimmers from around the world with significant contributions to travel costs and big prize money available.

In total, the 2023 series will offer at least €138,600 in prize money ($150,000), split up in a number of different ways. This is a significant increase from last year, where a minimum of €84,100 were up for grabs.

Event Prizes:

  • 1st place – €350
  • 2nd place – €200
  • 3rd place – €100

Meet by Meet Schedules

The two meets will be offset by about 12 days, which represents the difference in start date between the 2023 World Aquatics Championships and the 2024 Olympic Games. That means the gap from Mare Nostrum to the summer’s major championship will be about the same in both years.

Meet-by-meet schedules:

2023 2024
Canet May 13-14 May 25-26
Barcelona May 17-18 May 29-30
Monaco May 20-21 June 1-2

The later 2024 schedule also allows room for the European Aquatics Championships. Official dates for that meet have not been announced publicly, but it usually takes place in early May.
