Jacoby was more than a second behind with a 2:10.82 to qualify second. We should be in for another exciting showdown tonight between these Longhorns as Jacoby’s season-best time is just a couple tenths slower than Elendt’s.

Meanwhile, West Virginia freshman Mia Cheatwood (2:11.65) figures to battle with Texas sophomore Channing Hanley (2:12.17) for the final spot on the podium.

If the Texas men aren’t hitting the 2022 invite times, does that mean all of them will miss out on making NCAAs? It’s either Texas is a lot slower this year or they don’t have a sense of urgency for some reason.

I think the core is strong, a lot of guys already had invite times, and they should qualify around 16 guys, but they’re definitely not going to qualify the 22 or 24 they have the last few years.

Which swimmers are you referring to?

I’m referring to the guys other than the Foster brothers. The Texas men are not going to qualify for NCAAs with the times they are putting up, unless I’m missing something here.

Most of their bigger names locked their NCAA qualifying times at the Minnesota Invite. For example, Alec Enyeart went a 14:43 in the 1650 in December, which will easily qualify – right now it is #9 in the nation and usually top 30 or so qualify. Because he made the cut in the 1650, he can also swim any event he has a B cut in at NCAAs such as 500Fr, 200Fr etc.
By my count Texas will have around 15 swimmers qualify.

Texas is so loaded at the 200s of strokes, IM, and distance, it’s not even funny

2 Breast: J Foster, Corbeau, Vines, Chan
2 Fly: Artmann, Crane, C Foster
2 Back: C Foster, O’Connor, Harder, Crosby

If Carson wasn’t so good at 2 Back, I would argue he could pick up the 2 fly. O’Connor and Harder could both A final in 2 back and Carson could risk bumping either of them down. We will see how Artmann and Crane look though
