The 2023 Danish Open is nearly upon us with action kicking off on Saturday, April 1st. High-profile athletes from the nation will be gunning for spots on the World Championships roster, as well as the World Junior Championships lineup.

Among the contestants is Thea Blomsterberg, the 21-year-old who is making waves in the women’s breaststroke events.

Competing at a domestic meet earlier this month, Blomsterberg posted a new lifetime best of 2:24.47 in the 200m breast to rank 8th in the world on the season. She’ll be taking on the 50m, 100m, and 200m breast in addition to the 100m free at this Danish Open.

Young gun Nicholas Castella is looking for a breakout meet and he’ll have plenty of opportunities. The 15-year-old is entered in the 100m and 200m back, as well as the 100m, 200m, and 400m free events.

Castella captured two medals at last year’s European Youth Olympic Festival, including gold in the 100m free (51.13) and bronze in the 200m free (1:51.49).
