2023 Men’s NCAA Championships: Andrei Minakov Scratches 50 Free As 16th Seed

2023 NCAA DIVISION I MEN’S SWIMMING & DIVING CHAMPIONSHIPS

Stanford junior Andrei Minakov has withdrawn from the 50 freestyle on Day 2 of the Men’s NCAA Championships in Minneapolis, having been ranked 16th on the psych sheets in a time of 19.07.

Minakov, who swam on both of the Cardinal relays last night, made the same move last year in order to swim on all five of Stanford’s relays and it appears as though that’s the move again this year.

The defending champion in the 100 fly, Minakov split 19.67 swimming fly on the 200 medley relay on Wednesday night, and then led off the 800 free relay in 1:32.67. Stanford placed 10th and seventh in the two events, respectively.

Another notable scratch comes from Cal’s Reece Whitley in the 200 IM, who finished 27th last year in a time of 1:43.42.
