Fun breakdown.

Bit surprised that there was not even a mention of Alex Walsh in 200 free or 400IM.

Also fascinating to me that there are not many US women who will be on both 4×100 and 4×200 relays.

That’s pretty standard. They had zero crossover last year and only one in Tokyo.

I’m just so used to the Australian squad having a fair bit of crossover, that it caught me off guard.

Have to go back to Gwangju to find a sprinter on the US women’s 4×2.

Sorry, but I’m putting you on the spot. Assuming Kate Douglass swims the 200 IM, do you believe she doesn’t make top two? Personally, I hope she swims both the 200 IM and 50 free. But if she chooses only one, the IM seems to make more sense since her odds of making the top two in that event (at trials and Worlds) are far greater than in the 50 free (despite her love for the latter). Reigning Olympic bronze medalist, short-course world champion and NCAA recordholder. Her momentum is huge.

Fair enough, although I still think she chooses the IM only because her odds of medaling at Worlds are better than in the 50 free (and the 100 fly, for that matter). But what do I know. Thanks for your efforts.

How about a Gold Medal Minute presentation on the 2023 US World Champ Trials for at least one of the following following female swimmers:

Ledecky, Katie (200 FR, 400 FR, 800 FR, 1500 FR)
Smith, Regan (200 FL, 200 BK, 100 FL, 50 BK?, 100 BK, 200 IM?)

“Umm…short course…long course…not really co-related.”

Love it!

Great podcast!

I’m going out on a limb (not really):

Kate Douglass will opt out of the 200 IM in lieu of the 50 FR on Day 5 of the 2023 Phillips 66 National Championships for the second year in a row.

Has Curzan gone a LCM best time since HS?

Was her only best time in SCY since HS the 200 Back?

My mistake, she dropped .06 in the 100 back.

I realize that when you’re already an Olympian in HS it’s pretty tough to drop more time.

Her 50/100 frees have both been slower in SCY and LCM.
Her best event, 100 fly has been slower in SCY and LCM.
Her 4th and 5th best events, 100/200 backs, have improved a bit in SCY.

I really hope she can get back to her days when she was going 56 mid 100 Flys, 24 lows in the 50, and 53 mids at small meets.

Lol I’m stretching, thought it was more of a breakdown.

(People were whining about the rarity of them in other posts.)

I still think Regan Smith swims the 100 FL/50 BK double on Day 3 of the 2023 Phillips 66 National Championships. If Regan Smith can pull off a 200 FL/100 BK double at the TYR Pro Swim Series (Westmont, IL), the 100 FL/50 BK double should be a piece of cake.
