2024 French Olympic Trials Day 2: Roster Update

2024 FRENCH ELITE CHAMPIONSHIPS

After an exciting and fast first day of the French Elite Championships, which is serving as their Olympic Trials, France added a few more members to that team on Day 2. As a reminder, French selection procedures use the Olympic qualifying times as their standard, but there is no automatic qualification as the team selection is up to the sole discretion of “Le Directeur Technique National”, a title held by Jacco Verhaeren.

You can read the selection procedure (in French) here.

Swimming in the last event of the day, World Record Holder Leon Marchand swam a smooth and controlled 4:10.62, punching his ticket to Paris.

The backstrokes have seen a resurgence as of late across both the men and women and the 100 back saw two qualifiers each. Both undercutting the former nationals record, Emma Terebo, and Beryl Gastaldello each hit new PBs and will look to be crowd favorites in Paris. In the men’s 100 back, Mewen Tomac out-touched Yohann Ndoye-Brouard by just .02 of a second as each recorded Olympic Qualifying times.

Those five all hit the individual cut-off time, but several others notched potentially relay qualification spots.

Based on the selection times, the following swimmers appear to have booked their spots in the Paris Olympic Village.
