Rounding out tonight’s championship final is Arizona sophomore Haakon Naughton, along with Stanford’s Gibson Holmes and Henry McFadden. Andrei Minakov, who was seeded 2nd, did not swim.
Is Minakov sick?
Forgot USC was in this meet till 2 fly
Yep, they’ve been straight up bad
Marchand took 1 stroke on the first length. He didn’t exit warm-up distance-per-stroke mode till the 150. Swam relatively solid the last 50 to pass the 2-3 others in his heat he’d been trailing till then. One of the ‘oddest’ races I’ve ever seen in a significant meet from an athlete of Leon’s caliber. Amazing.
I wonder if Marchand and Bowman don’t want to steal Kharun’s thunder. Kharun can under Conger’s record, maybe here, it’s seeming pretty likely he will at NCAAs, that is, given that Mr. 1:52.4 LCM with the best underwaters in history doesn’t but it out of reach…
It’s prob moreso they want more breastroke reps in this season as that might be a preview of where the focus is for the Olympics
I was lucky enough to lime this session in lane 4!! Great experience. Got a Marchand signature too!
USC with more A finalists in the 200 fly (3) than in the entire rest of the meet combined (2).
Oof, they’ll be a real threat at Big10s next year
Battling with Northwestern/Purdue, lol
I may have missed, but what happened to MInakov? Scratched final in 100 Fly last night and no swim this morning.
Sick I think
Cal backstroke depth is still unreal.
