After winning gold in the 200 free last night, David Popovici of Romania will be back in action as the #2 seed in the 100 free. He has an entry time of a 46.88 and is the only other 46-point entry.

Katie Ledecky of the US will look to defend her title in the 1500 freestyle after winning in Tokyo, the first time that the event was ever contested at the Olympic level.  Italy’s Simona Quadarella enters as the #2 seed and won bronze in the 800 free in Tokyo so she will look to be a first-time medalist in this event.

Like the men’s 100 freestyle, the women’s 100 free will also feature numerous swimmers who were in the 200 free. Bronze medalist last night in the 200 free Siobhan Haughey of Hong Kong is the top seed with a 52.02. Haughey won silver in the event in Tokyo.

China’s Qin Haiyang holds the World Record in the men’s 200 breast and won the event at 2023 Worlds. He is the top seed in the event and will swim next to Marchand who will be on the back half of his 200 fly, 200 breast double. Haiyang is coming off of a 7th place finish in the 100 breast on night 2. Zac Stubblety-Cook of Australia is the #2 seed and will look to position himself to stand on the top of the podium again. Matt Fallon of the US enters as the #3 seed after swimming an American Record of a 2:06.54 at US Trials.

The men’s 4×200 free relay will conclude the evening. Great Britain is the #1 seed and look to be set up well after Matt Richards won silver and Duncan Scott was 4th in the individual 200 free last night. The US is the #2 seed and look to be led by Luke Hobson who won bronze last night.
