I feel like the picks against Mollie in the 100 free are insane

She hasn’t lost a 100 free final since 2021

I actually think the door is slightly open because of her relative lack of front-end speed. Think best case for her with the way she swims it right now is 25.5/26.4 for 51.9. I don’t think it’s likely that anyone beats her or that time, but I can see a world where Sarah or Siobhan could get to 51.8.

Not losing a final since 2021 is essentially beating her top competitors at 2 meets, it’s not an insurmountable streak.

She’s a racer. She races down everyone in the back half – so will hunt whoever is in front of her to touch first. Siobhan and Sarah go out fast and try to hang on, MOC will hang back and overtake on the last 50.

Is anyone else struggling to hear Yanyan’s audio? I’m listening on Spotify and it’s going in and out a lot

Yes, it’s really bad. SwimSwam – please invest in proper mic/audio set up for her!

Picking Popovici off the podium in the 100 when he was just 46.8 is out there

Did they give a reason? The rumor was that he was not strong enough to maneuver through the wake created by the other swimmers. I didn’t listen to the podcast yet.

That’s exactly what was said. They said he usually swims better in low pressure meets not in a high pressure final.

Ok, but if you’re going to take someone who’s best time is 47.3 to medal, I’d rather take a 19 year old who is swimming great who has been 47.3 or faster 12 times and 46.8 without a full rest a month before the Olympics.

He has talked about why last year wasn’t as good of a year for him and it makes perfect sense, but I think people don’t believe he shows up in big moments because of one off summer.

Sure, and that’s why he’s the favorite on some betting sites.

But I’m just saying, he doesn’t have to be THAT far off his best – and maybe that shallow pool knocks him around more than others – for him to fall off the podium. It’s a hot take for sure but I respect it

When is Mel going to buy a clip on mic for Yanyan? Not sure how much more I can take.

In addition, she is poorly lit and would benefit from using a halo light. Check out how well bell a is lit in her interview with melvin.

That said, I like her writing and analysis. Good stuff.
