23.6 50 Freestyler Lexi Babovac Commits to Rutgers

Lexi Babovac, a native Peoria, Illinois, will be moving to New Jersey when she starts her NCAA career next season. Babovac has made her commitment to join the Rutgers Scarlet Knights in the Big Ten Conference. In the meantime, she’s swimming with the Peoria Area Water Wizards, where she trains primarily for the sprint freestyles. She also competes for Notre Dame High School during the high school season, and will be graduating from the school at the end of this spring.

Babovac’s Top Times:

  • 50 free- 23.69
  • 100 free- 53.19
  • 200 free- 2:03.22

In each of the last 3 years, Babovac has qualified to swim both the 50 free and 100 free at the Illionois Girls High School State Championships. Her highest finish came in the 2015, when she clocked a personal best 23.69 in the 50 free to register the 12th fastest time. She’s also got a personal best of 53.19 in the 100 free, which she swum as the leadoff swimmer of Notre Dame High School’s 400 free relay at the 2014 state meet. Her most recent performance was at last week’s 2016 state meet, where she finished 18th place in the 50 free and 30th place in the 100 free.
