3-Sport Athlete Emma Linscott to Join Brother Hayden at Minnesota

Emma Linscott, a senior at Shawnee Mission East High School in Prairie Village, Kansas, has signed an NLI and will join her older brother, Hayden Linscott, at the University of Minnesota in the fall of 2018. Linscott swims for her high school and for Kansas City Swim Academy.

Linscott was a three-sport athlete during her first two years of high school. She played golf team in the fall (her mother was a golfer at Missouri State University) and basketball in the winter, and she swam on the SME swim team in the spring. Linscott made the decision to concentrate on swimming her junior year. At school she is a member of the National Honor Society, French Club, and French National Honors Society, and is a Class Representative for Pep Club.

As a sophomore at the 2016 Kansas 6A Swim and Dive Championships, Linscott placed second in the 100 fly with 58.01 and fourth in the 200 IM with 2:12.04, and swam legs on the winning 200 free (24.40) and 400 free (53.97) relays. The following year she was fourth in the 50 free (24.52) and second in the 100 fly (56.94) and contributed to the winning 200 free and second-place 400 free relays. Since the state meet in May 2017, Linscott has continued to improve. During her first summer as a one-sport athlete, she took 2 seconds off her LCM 50 free, 1.4 off her 100 fly, .8 off her 50 fly, and .3 off her 100 free. She also logged her first LCM 200 free and 200 fly times.

Top SCY times:

  • 100 fly – 56.93
  • 50 free – 24.42
  • 100 free – 54.11
  • 200 IM – 2:11.97

Also committing to the University of Minnesota class of 2022 are: Abbey Kilgallon, Emily Baude, Kate Sullivan, and Kelli McCarthy.
