3-time Florida 4A Champion Gabby Donahue Commits to Nebraska

Fitter and Faster Swim Clinics is the proud sponsor of SwimSwam’s College Recruiting Channel and all commitment news. For many, swimming in college is a lifelong dream that is pursued with dedication and determination. Fitter and Faster is proud to honor these athletes and those who supported them on their journey.

Gabby Donahue, a senior at Oviedo High School in Oviedo, Florida, has verbally committed to the University of Nebraska’s class of 2024. She will join Allison Henry, Caitlin Cairns, Ella Stein, and Sarah Barton who have also committed to the Cornhuskers for 2020-21.

“I am so excited to finally announce my commitment to study and swim at the University of Nebraska. Thank you to everyone who helped me through this process especially my family and coach Charlie. Go Big Red.”

Donahue is coming off a big Florida High School 4A State Championships in which Oveido swept both the girls’ and boys’ 4A state titles. She contributed an individual win in the 100 back (54.72), two relay wins (50.65 anchor on the 400 free relay and 25.85 leadoff on the 200 medley relay), and a 3rd-place finish in the 200 IM (2:01.98). Donahue also plays water polo for Oveido High School.

Outside of high school, Donahue swims club for Blue Dolfins and represents Trinidad in international competition. This summer she swam at both Pan Am Games (11th in the 100 back) and CCCAN Swimming Championships (3rd in the 50 back, 7th in the 100 back, 4th in the 100 breast, 3rd in the 200 IM, 3rd in the 400 IM). She came away with new times in the 100m back (1:04.62), 400m free (4:39.20), and 400 IM (5:17.97). In April she competed at XXXIV Carifta Swimming Championships and notched PBs in the 100m free (59.33) and 200m IM (2:24.90). There, she won the 50 back, 100 breast, and 200 IM, was runner-up in the 100 back, and took 3rd in the 100 free.

Donahue’s best SCY times are very close to what it took to score at the 2019 B1G Championships. It took 54.31 in the 100 back, 2:00.37 in the 200 IM, and 1:01.99 in the 100 breast.
