After 3 years with A3 Performance, 29-year-old South African superstar Darian Townsend recently extended his agreement with A3 Performance through the 2016 Rio Olympics.

Townsend is an 8-time NCAA Champion, World Record Holder, 3-time Olympian and an Olympic Gold Medalist in the 400-meter Freestyle Relay at the 2004 Athens Olympic Games. He has spent the past four months training with Garrett McCaffrey and the Phoenix Swim Club in Phoenix, Arizona. Adjusting to a new coach and a new program has its challenges, but Townsend is getting along great with Garrett and the team, and he is even pushing best times in the middle of the season!

Townsend tried his first pair of A3 Fuse X Goggles at a meet in Tucson years ago and immediately fell in love with them. Curious about A3 Performance and the other products they offer, Darian was excited by the great quality and style of their many products, and jumped at the opportunity to represent and promote A3 Performance as a sponsored athlete.

After representing the brand for the last three years, Townsend was eager and willing to extend his agreement with A3 Performance and ready to buckle down and focus on swimming fast.

“Being able to extend my contract all the way through the 2016 Olympics is really going to help me focus on training. With this continued agreement comes a support system I know I can rely on because I know A3 Performance will always have my back!”

Focusing on his training with the Phoenix Swim Club, Townsend is staying local for most of his competitions this summer. As the end of the summer championships approach, watch for Townsend to make a big splash!
