500 Free Records Fall on Day One of MAC Championships

YORK, Pa. (Swimming) – The first day of the 2020 Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) Men’s and Women’s Swimming Championships were completed on Thursday at the Graham Aquatic Center. The men’s and women’s 500-yard freestyle records were both broken.

Through four events, Stevens currently leads the men’s standings with 349.5 points. Albright is in second with 255 points, Arcadia is in third with 209 points, Messiah is in fourth with 190 points and Widener is in fifth with 174 points.

Misericordia leads the women’s standings with 294 points. Stevens is in second with 257 points, Arcadia is third with 252 points, Messiah is fourth with 204 points, and Widener is fifth with 172 points.

500-YARD FREESTYLE
Men
King’s Jared Stephan won gold while breaking both the MAC overall and championship record time of 4:38.35 set in 2015 with a new record time of 4:35.69. Albright’s Teag Culver took silver with a time of 4:38.67, and Stevens’ Daniel Rosenberg won bronze with a time of 4:40.83.

Women
Stevens’ Isabella Fairman won gold while breaking both the MAC overall (5:03.15) and championship (5:04.37) times with a new time of 5:02.81. The previous championship record was held since 1991, while the previous overall record was her own. Stevens’ Samantha Zdesar took silver with a time of 5:05.44, and Arcadia’s Megan Hupp won bronze with a time of 5:07.92.

200-YARD INDIVIDUAL MEDLEY
Men
Arcadia’s TJ Dalton wins gold for the second-straight season, this year with a time of 1:54.09. Stevens’ Theodore Jagodits took silver with a time of 1:55.34, and teammate Tyler Zanki won bronze with a time of 1:55.84.

Women
Widener’s Jill Bujanowski won gold for the second time in the event, this year with a time of 2:08.25. Stevenson’s Melanie Milam took silver with a time of 2:09.20, and Misericordia’s Grace Nikolski won bronze with a time of 2:11.22.

50-YARD FREESTYLE
Men
Stevens’ Kurt Von Autenreid won gold with a time of 20.93 seconds. The Ducks’ Michael Shusta won silver with a time of 21.50 seconds, and Widener’s Martin Bohdan took bronze with a time of 21.31 seconds.

Women
Stevens’ Isabelle Rivera won gold with a time of 23.87 seconds, just off the conference record time of 23.57 seconds. Misericordia’s Camryn Hubric took silver with a time of 24.36 seconds, and Lycoming’s Cara Zortman won bronze with a time of 24.67 seconds.

200-YARD MEDLEY RELAY
Men
Stevens’ Chaitha Dasari, Tyler Zanki, Blake Holland and Jonas Lackey won gold with a time of 1:33.61. Albright finished in second with a time of 1:34.23, and Messiah took third with a time of 1:34.93.

Women
Misericordia’s Victoria Wrobleski, Mary-T Nikolski, Kaitlyn Weatherby and Camryn Hubric won gold with a time of 1:49.21. Stevens took silver with a time of 1:49.32, and Messiah won bronze with a time of 1:51.36.
