#6 Jeremy Kelly (2024) Announces Verbal Commitment to In-state Texas Longhorns

Fitter and Faster Swim Camps is the proud sponsor of SwimSwam’s College Recruiting Channel and all commitment news. For many, swimming in college is a lifelong dream that is pursued with dedication and determination. Fitter and Faster is proud to honor these athletes and those who supported them on their journey.

Jeremy Kelly from Georgetown, Texas, has announced his intention to swim and study at the University of Texas in Austin beginning in the fall of 2024. Kelly is the #6 recruit on our Way Too Early list of top-20 boys from the high school class of 2024.

“I’m extremely excited and humbled to announce my commitment to further my academic and athletic career at the University of Texas! I’d like to thank my family, friends, and coaches for supporting me along this journey, along with Coach Eddie and Wyatt for giving me such an incredible opportunity. Hook ‘em! 🤘🧡”

A junior at Georgetown High School, Kelly swims for his school and for Nitro Swimming. He has a versatile lineup, exceling in freestyle (sprint to mid-distance), backstroke, and IM. At the 2022 Texas UIL 5A State Championships, he won the 50 free (20.02) and 500 free (4:23.18), earning PBs in both events. The previous year, he won the 200 IM (1:48.32) and was runner-up in the 100 back (49.52) as a freshman. Again, both times were lifetime bests. At College Station Sectionals in March, he added PBs in the 200 free and 100/200 breast, placing 9th in the 50 free, 5th in the 100 free, 2nd in the 200 free, and 7th in the 200 breast.

Kelly competed at Phillips 66 International Team Trials in April, where he logged lifetime bests in the LCM 50/100/200 free (23.51/51.72/1:52.82). This summer, he competed in the same three events, plus the 200 IM, at Speedo Junior Nationals. He improved his 200 free time (1:52.06) and added a PB in the 200 IM (2:04.62), finaling in both events (12th and 10th respectively).

The Longhorns have also received verbal commitments to the class of 2028 from #2 Cooper Lucas, #20 Luke Stibrich, and “Best of the Rest” Max Hatcher. Whereas Lucas, Stibrich, and Hatcher all excel in the 200s and above, Kelly’s sprint value doubles when one considers his NCAA relay potential.

Best SCY times:

  • 50 free – 20.02
  • 100 free – 44.06
  • 200 free – 1:36.10
  • 500 free – 4:23.18
  • 200 IM – 1:48.32
  • 100 back – 49.52
  • 200 back – 1:47.75
  • 200 breast – 2:01.72

My bad for missing the 4:23. I still don’t see 1:36 mentioned.
