Katrina Radke interviews NAG Champion Andrew Trepanier and his coach, Phil Smith, of South Metro STORM Swim Club. In the process of being ranked #1 nationally in several events in his age group, Andrew shattered seven Minnesota state records.
He also has a unique story. In December, he had broken his wrist snowboarding, and was unable to swim for a few weeks, and then could only kick and do ab work. During this time he missed two critical meets, before having some swims of his life. This is always an interesting topic – when someone gets injured or sick. Does it end up helping or hurting an athlete over the short and long term?
As of late March, 2012, he was ranked #1 in the 11-12 national age group in 50 free, 100 fly, and 100 back. 2nd in 100 IM, and 50 fly. 3rd in 100 freestyle, and 7th in 50 backstroke.
Also, of interest, is that he and NAG Record Holder, Regan Smith are teammates at STORM.

Head Coaches, and brothers (and triathletes) – Phil and Chuck Smith, along with the whole coaching staff, are producing some fine athletes.
P.S. In beginning of video, you get to see Katrina with a snowman! Yes, Minnesota actually received SNOW in April (even rare for here)!
