Here are eight facts you need to know about Australia’s National Swim Team before the 2014 Commonwealth Games and Pan Pacific Championships.
ONE
78 swimmers between ages 15 and 35 will represent Swimming Australia at the 2014 Commonwealth Games, 2014 Para Pan Pacific Championships in LA, and the 2014 Pan Pacific Championships on the Gold Coast.
Two
Swimming Australia has won a total of 599 Commonwealth Games gold medals.
Three
Swimming Australia elites train in more than 40 pools, up to 10 sessions per week, for a total of 25k in workout pain.
Four
Swimming Australia elites – when not training – surf, dunk basketballs, sleep, eat, rest, ride, walk, slide, shop, cook, tweet and dream about what it means to swim for gold.
Five
75% of Swimming Australia elites learned to swim before they could walk or talk.
Six
Since 1904 more than 1000 Swimming Australia elites have swum for gold in international competitions.
Seven
Swimming Australia elites can all hold their breath for over 60 seconds underwater….but none of them can play the bagpipes.
Eight
Swimming Australia elites eat sushi, bananas, pasta, rice, beef, scambled eggs, poached eggs, boiled eggs, fruit, veggies…but only three have eaten haggis (a yummy glob of sheep’s heart, liver, lungs, onions, spices, and salt, all mixed together and encased in the tasty, savoury animal’s stomach).

IDC IF THEY PLAT BAGPIPES ~ PLU
Just to put some history to it Mike – in 2010, Australia medal’ed in all women’s events, but not in the:
50 free
1500 free
200 fly
400 IM
50 and 1500 free seem like good bets this year, as does the 400 IM. 200 fly maybe is a little dicey still, but Grant Irvine should get on the podium as well.
Swimming aussie is awesome. These videos are so funny, why doesn’t the dutch federation make this kind of videos
